Doctor, village headman among four other arrested in Uttar Pradesh for defaming CM Yogi Adityanath

Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh Police has arrested four more people for allegedly defaming state Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on social media. FIR has been registered against six people following the arrest of a freelance journalist Prashant Kanaujia on Friday night last week. A head of a news channel and an editor of a private TV news channel were also arrested on the same night.

According to reports, two of the six booked since then are reportedly absconding as of now.

On Sunday night, the Gorakhpur police had tweeted that it has arrested a person “for posting objectionable content to tarnish the image of the chief minister. Since then five more FIRs were registered.

Freelance journalist Prashant Kanojia was arrested on Friday night after an FIR was registered against him in Lucknow, alleging that Kanojia tried to “malign” Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s image.
